I've been getting out for an hour or two each day on the Gunnison. School is keeping me from spending all day on the water but the short trips have been successful. I've been catching 12"-18" browns and bows on everything from midges to streamers. The browns have been attacking the streamers like they haven't eaten for months (they probably haven't) and the bows have been picky, only taking midges and small baetis patterns. Word has it that the Lake Fork is open. I imagine I'll be hitting it once or twice before the runoff. Everything is starting to melt, the roads are clearing, school is almost out and the best part of the year is quickly approaching. The sooner the runoff starts and clears the happier I'll be.
